Overview<\/h2>\n

Venturing is a program of Scouting America for males and females aged 14-21 (or 13 and completed the 8th grade). It\u2019s operated through Venturing Crews, run by the youth and mentored by adult advisors to plan activities and events, run meetings and trainings, and handle administrative tasks.\u00a0 Our crew aims for at least one outing every month and a big, multi-day adventure in the summer which we call a Super Trip.<\/p>\n

The Venturing program uses the A-L-P-S model to prepare members for their futures.\u00a0 ALPS stands for:<\/p>\n

Adventure \u2013 Mentoring, leading, and participating in crew-led adventures.
Leadership \u2013 Ongoing leadership development through training, mentoring, and hands-on leadership.
Personal Growth \u2013 Goal-setting in support of personal growth.
Service \u2013 Leading and participating in community service.<\/p>\n

To support the youth in their growth, Crew 27 encourages, but does not require, working on the Summit Award path (personal development) and the Ranger Award (outdoor skills).<\/p>\n

As a part of Scouting America, Venturing also believes in teaching its members to live by a set of principles found in the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Venturing Moto, and, for our outdoor focused crew, The Outdoor Code.<\/p>\n
